Outskirts of Vienna
Vienna’s outskirts are especially attractive – romantic countryside, vintner villages, historic castles, abbeys and monasteries as well as picturesque landscapes. Entertaining excursions contribute to a perfect Vienna experience! I am also happy to accompany groups on day trips to Salzburg, Graz or Linz or even to Brno and South Moravia in the Czech Republic.
Selected tours
Vienna Woods and Wachau
Discover the main recreation area of the Viennese during a full-day excursion to the Vienna Woods. We will visit Heiligenkreuz Abbey, one of the oldest and most important monasteries in Austria and the most important burial place of the Babenberg dynasty. Optionally we also visit the scene of the tragedy of Mayerling.
Afterwards we continue to Melk on the Danube and explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site Wachau, famous for its enchanting landscape, medieval castles and picturesque towns with a long history.
Alternatively, we will drive through the picturesque Helenental to Baden, where you will get a good impression of the spa, thermal and congress city during an overview tour.
Klosterneuburg
Close to the city limits, a visit to the 900-year-old Klosterneuburg Abbey is worthwhile. A guided tour of the monastery can include various thematic focuses, recommended is the „Sacred Path“ with a visit to the unique Verdun Altar from the 12th century, or the Treasury gives us an insight into art objects of inestimable value.
Kahlenberg + Wine taverns in Nußdorf/Grinzing
On the way back to Vienna or in combination with a city tour we stop at the Kahlenberg, one of the most popular destinations for the Viennese. This is mainly due to the stunning view that the Kahlenberg offers and the many traditional „Heurigen“ (wine taverns) that are located at the foot of the Kahlenberg. Along the way, I like to tell you about the highlights of the famous wine area Grinzing, Heiligenstadt and Nußdorf.
Day trip Burgenland and Festival visit
Burgenland – the youngest province of Austria – invites you to a full-day excursion. The tour leads to Eisenstadt, for many years the place of work of the composer Joseph Haydn at the court of Prince Esterházy.
The journey continues via the St. Margarethen Roman quarry to Rust, a beautifully preserved medieval town in the center. The return journey leads along the northern shore of Lake Neusiedl.
Alternative visits (Haydn Museum, Mörbisch Lake Festival) or programs (e.g. boat trip on Lake Neusiedl) can be arranged.
Travel Austria (Graz – Salzburg – Linz)
Let’s travel together to the most beautiful and famous cities in Austria. In the course of (multi-) day tours, I may introduce the provincial capitals of Graz or Salzburg, each with its famous old town. This can also be combined with excursions and stopovers (e.g. highlights Linz, Steyr, Bad Ischl, Mariazell, Großglockner High Alpine Road, around Lake Attersee, Admont Abbey, etc.).
In the course of multi-day trips, I am also happy to provide tips on the most beautiful hiking trails, viewpoints, excursion restaurants and cultural highlights in the area.
Day trip Brno and South Moravia
Hardly any region around Vienna has as many sights to offer as South Moravia in the Czech Republic. Starting point is the picturesque Brno, which inspires with modernity, cultural diversity and traditional highlights. We can expect extraordinary architecture from the time of the Habsburg monarchy as well as style-forming buildings from the modern era of the 20th century. We are also happy to visit one of the world-famous beer breweries and enjoy the ambience of the second largest city in the country.
Starting from Brno I will gladly accompany you to the world famous „Garden of Europe“ Lednice-Valtice with its magnificent castles or to the royal town of Miklov. Other possible destinations in the region are Znojmo on the Dyje River, Telč or Austerlitz.
Quality is my highest priority – therefore the tours always take place target group oriented and in a relaxed atmosphere! For all mentioned destinations, I am accredited as a tour guide or take care of a tour with local guides.
I am looking forward to meeting you!
