Architectural Tour of modern Vienna

Modern residential and office districts, a university campus designed by international architects and the vibrant Bahnhof-City are evidence that Vienna is not only imperial, but also contemporary.

Join me on a tour of the most striking and spectacular 20th and 21st century architectural examples of a growing, modern metropolis!

The Tour

We meet in front of the Belvedere 21. Museum of Contemporary Art, accessible in a few minutes from downtown Vienna.

Our first stop is the Quartier Belvedere area including a short walk to the recently completed Quarter Sonnwendviertel neighborhood and an introduction to the developments of contemporary architecture starting in the 2nd half of the 20th century until today.

Afterwards we head to Bahnhof City anchored by Vienna’s new central rail station opened in 2014 and visit one of the most modern urban mobility hubs with its more than 150 years of history.

On the metro we move on to the Leopoldstadt and explore the spectacular new Campus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business – a must-see for all architecture enthusiasts.

After about 3hrs our tour ends at the diverse and exciting urban development Viertel Zwei, right next to the green oasis of the Vienna Prater, just a few steps away from the U2 metro stop Kriau.

During the guided tour you will not only learn about the history, planning and realization of ambitious urban development projects but also hear from from a variety of national and international architects on Nobel Prize level.

A variety of tips and recommendations on other architectural sights of modern Vienna complete the experience.

Quality is my highest priority, so I always tailor my tours to the interest of the group in a relaxed atmosphere!

On request, I also offer this tour extended as a panoramic city tour including further city districts such as Donau-City, Gasometer Wien or Neu-Marx.

Hint: bring your camera

I am looking forward to meeting you!
