Green Ottakring

Known as a traditional working-class and industrial district, a walk through the beautifully situated Vienna Woods hills opens up a green view of Ottakring peppered with a colorful carousel of unique impressions!

Inspired by the spectacular view of the city, we explore how Nobel Prize winner Konrad Lorenz became a squatter, how the Novak brothers had the craziest villa in Vienna built and where stylistic innovator Otto Wagner, after planning the most important Viennese Art Nouveau building, no longer received commissions from the imperial family.

Take a look behind the facades with me and let’s experience the eventful history of the city and its fascinating protagonists together. Guided tour of the Otto Wagner Church included!

The Tour

To start we enjoy the wonderful views as well as the varied history and buildings on the Gallitzinberg.

A relaxing walk through the Vienna Woods at the source of the Ottakringer stream takes us to the Steinhofgründe and on to the Otto Wagner Church. After a 40-minute tour of the Art Nouveau jewel, we turn our attention to the Otto Wagner Areal.

Still under the impression of the complex and memorable history, architecture and information about the exciting current development of the approx. 60 pavilions of the former psychiatric hospital, the route leads us to the Kuffner observatory and the district’s bathing oasis, the Ottakringer Bad.

After around 2.5 hours our tour ends and a rustic old Viennese BuschenschankWeinbau Herrmann – invites us to take a well-deserved break with a wonderful view!

Quality is my highest priority and therefore the tours always take place target group oriented and in a relaxed atmosphere!

If desired I give tips for further sights, coffee houses, and restaurants you should visit.
